So I finished it!! Just in time for Calgary expo. Oh man, I don’t think I’ve spent a longer amount of time on a single drawing/painting EVER. I’m pretty well satisfied with how it turned out though! So many bitty details, you have to see it printed. It’s pretty great.

Anyway, if you want to see a couple progress pics of this drawing, you can check it out here, or on my twitter (starting about here and going backwards). I didn’t document the progress as well this time, probably because it took me like 3 weeks to finish it? I’ll try better next time!

Summer Glau practicing fight choreography for the movie, Serenity (2005). Her kicks are amazing for not having any martial arts experience. She only did ballet. It makes me wish that more ballerinas got into martial arts. Their flexibility is perfectly suited for it.

She is the most amazing human being on the planet. I love how she manages to seamlessly make her ballet turns fit so organically into the fight choreography. Perfection.

Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread

1 can of refrigerated Grands biscuits (not the flaky layers)
1/2 stick of butter
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp Italian Seasoning

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Throw the cold stick of butter in a bundt pan and let it melt in the preheating oven.

While the butter melts, cut the Grands biscuits into quarters. In a bowl, toss the biscuit pieces, garlic, Italian Seasoning, and Parmesan cheese together.

Once the butter is melted, add the biscuit mixture to the pan, sprinkling with any cheese and garlic that gets let behind in the bowl.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20- 22 minutes until golden brown. Turn out on a dish and enjoy!

I actually have this elaborate head-canon where the only reason Clint’s stuff has the purple-and-bullseye theme is that people keep giving him this shit. He doesn’t buy it on his own; he’s not that self aware, and he hates spending money on himself.

But, like, his first Christmas with the Avengers, Pietro decided to wind him up by giving him some kind of atrocious purple underwear or something, in a setting where he’d have to unwrap them in front of people. And Clint spoiled the joke by just being like “Hey, thanks man, I needed some of these, getting tired of going commando” and basically being too shameless to embarrass.

So it became this thing, which the other Avengers got in on, of giving Clint obnoxiously purple stuff. It took on a life of its own, so it kept up even when he wasn’t being Hawkeye. Any time an Avenger sees something in that particular family of violent purple, it’s like Pavlovian, yes, Clint must have this. Especially if it’s got a bullseye and/or ‘H’ on it, because something, eventually, has to reach some kind of tackiness event horizon even for him, except it never does.

And at some point, somebody finally asked Clint if he minded the endless amount of ugly purple ‘gag’ gifts.

And Clint said, fuck no, because a) if he cared about the color he wouldn’t dress head to toe in the stuff and b) 90% of this stuff is way nicer than anything he would ever buy for himself, and people are just giving it to him. Who cares about the color scheme—why would he ever want it to stop?

Headcanon accepted.

What’s a “half-mourning” dress? Mourning in the front, party in the back?

Half-Mourning was the third stage of mourning for a widow. She would be expected to mourn her husband for at least two years, the stages being Full Mourning, Second Mourning and Half-Mourning. The different stages regulated what they would be wearing, with Full Mourning being all black and with no ornamentation, including the wodow’s veil, and the stages after that introducing some jewellery and modest ornamentation. When in Half-Mourning you would gradually include fabrics in other colors and sort of ease your way out of mourning.

Wow, I am happy you made that joke so I could interpert it as a serious question and have an excuse to ramble on about clothing customs of the past, I am a historical fashion nerd.

How else are the evil comic books supposed to corrupt innocent youth? But I think the better question is why is he sporting that bad dye job. Black eyebrows with strawberry hair? C’mon.

It’s worth noting that most of the angels (unfallen) resemble either hippies or old men. Sometimes both.
